My name is Jamie, and I’m a PhD candidate in Sociology and Equity Studies in Education at OISE at the University of Toronto.

My doctoral research explores media literacy in Canada. I consider media literacy both as a formal curricular subject and as a contested practice within academic and community spaces. I am currently living and working in Vancouver, using the Lower Mainland as a regional case study for my dissertation.

I also watch far too much TV, spend many hours each day browsing the web, and have been a self-diagnosed nerd for at least two decades. I work in Education because I believe it matters, and I work in Cultural Studies because it’s fun.

This is my second adventure in blogging, and my first attempt at a ‘serious’ academic website.

A splendid time is guaranteed for all.
